5.On 28 February is the “National Science Day”. The day is celebrated every year on 28th February to commemorate the discovery of the “Raman Effect”. On this day, Indian Physicist Sir C.V. Raman announced the discovery of the ‘Raman Effect’ for which he was awarded the Nobel Prize in 1930.

6.The first phase of Manipur Assembly Elections was held on February 28, 2022 in 38 constituencies across five districts including Imphal East, Imphal West, Bishnupur, Churachandpur and Kangpokpi. A total of 173 candidates are in the fray in this phase, including 15 women candidates.

8.The International Judo Federation has suspended Vladimir Putin as Honorary President and Ambassador of the federation in the light of the ongoing war in Ukraine. The federation has also cancelled its May 20-22 Grand Slam event in Kazan, Russia.

9.UNSC resolution against Russia’s invasion of Ukraine did not pass as the Permanent member of the council Russia used its veto. In the 15-member UNSC, the resolution received 11 votes in favour and three abstentions, including by China, India, and the UAE.
